Snowmen

Monday, December 15, 2008

This is a custom stitching that I made for my friend. She wanted something to replace a picture for the holidays. I have to admit that I was a little worried about doing something of this scale (the whole thing ended up being 2 feet by 3 feet) but I think it turned out really cute. And she loved it, which is the whole point.

trying something different

Thursday, November 20, 2008

So, as you know I am pretty much bannered out. (is bannered a word? probably not) But I wanted to try something different. My mom had seen a thanksgiving banner with just the letters, so I thought i would try a Christmas one. Short and sweet. What do you think? should I make more this way, put the letters back on the pennants and don't mess with a good thing or bag the whole thing completely?
Still living. Just thought I would update everyone on that. I...am.....still.......alive.....barely.
This boutique season has just about been the death of me. I am exhausted from using every spare minute (and some not so spare) to craft everything from crayon holders to birthday books to candy jars. Not to mention the billion or so banners I have created in the last two months. So it is with great pleasure that I announce my second to last boutique for the season! It is going to be this weekend and it sounds like it will be tons of fun. Leave a comment if you would like me to send you the flier. Erin has done a great job with advertising, especially since this is her first time hosting a boutique. Thanks Erin.

Upcoming event

Monday, November 10, 2008
I will be displaying my craft products at my sister's upcoming Usborne Children's book show. It will be this Wednesday (11/12) at her house. If you have never heard of Usborne- go to their website www.ubah.com ,these books are amazing. I have sold them for a few years now and I never get tired of looking at them. We are offering an incentive- for purchases over $25 you will receive a free gift! I will preview the gift in a post tomorrow. You won't be disappointed in these books for sure, and hopefully you won't be disappointed in the crafts either. (here's hoping anyway)

Banners and more banners

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

It looks like I am really into banners right now. Actually, I'm working on a few things, but nothing really new, just more banners and some stitchings. So, I thought I would post this banner just to get you in the mood for turkey and mellow afternoons.

It says grateful in case the contrast on the yellow pennants is not enough for you to read it. (as with almost everything on this blog, it looks better in real life.)

Custom banner

Saturday, November 1, 2008
My cousin asked me to make her a banner that was just for her. Her nieces all call her "Aunt Sika" (pronounced seeka) and that's what she wanted the banner to say. I love how it turned out. The hot pink and black just suit her personality. Hope you like it cutie.

Up close look

Monday, October 27, 2008

These are some close up shots of the stitchings that I do. There is a bride on one that says "I love to see the Temple, I'm going there someday" and the missionary is on another that says "I hope they call me on a mission."
I call them my "gentle reminders", somthing you can place in a child's room and they will see it and just subtly in the back of their minds be reminded about these very important goals to strive for. They are in 12X12 frames and can be customized with the paper and hair/eye color of your choice. I also make a princess stitching that says "believe in the magic of your dreams" and I am developing a sports themed one that will say "believe in your dreams." The stitchings are my own design and I love how they turn out.

Fall Festival

So, I havn't posted for a while because I have been frantically trying to make enough product to have for the fall festival hosted at a local charter school this past weekend. As you can see, my booth ended up looking quite festive and I had a lot of positive responses about it.

Some of the most popular items were the banners (Fall in particular) and the Missionary and Temple stitchings. It was a fairly successful weekend and I'm glad it's over!

Gobble Gobble

Tuesday, October 14, 2008

So I finished the Gobble Gobble blocks. What do you think? The blocks turned out darker with the stain than I had originally planned, but I still think they look good. Do you think the turkeys are too big? What about the pumpkin? Is it too small, does it look out of place with the two turkeys up on the blocks? Hmmmm......no wonder creativity is such a complicated process.

Nativity

Friday, October 10, 2008

This is the felt nativity I made last year for Primary. The pieces go along with the words to "picture a Christmas" but they could also just be used to tell the Christmas story. Everything is made of felt, and they attach to the background with hook-and loop tape. (velcro) I'm thinking about trying to sell a set or two. Any opinions on what you think people would pay/ if it's even worth trying?

Let's talk turkey

Monday, October 6, 2008
In the coming soon category, I have started a new set of blocks for this year. The blocks will say "gobble, gobble" and will include two turkeys and a pumpkin. The set will run $25 same as the trick or treat blocks. Here's a sneak peak at the turkey.

Are you my Mummy?

This is the newest figurine I have made for the Trick or Treat set. He turned out so cute. I also just started making the skull, I think he's pretty funny too.

This is most of the figurines I make for the trick or treat set. There is also a ghost, pumpkin and bat. They sure dress up the wood blocks!

Halloween and other stuff

Tuesday, September 30, 2008
The 4X4 BOO blocks are really fun tied up like this, or undo the bow to spread them out. I made the "Wicked" felt banner to match the colors in the sash on the witches' hat, I also have EEK! and SPOOKY banners as well. Fun Huh?

These "Trick or Treat" blocks were a hit last year, and this year they are turning out to be just as popular! I have created a couple of new figurines this year as well, a skeleton and a mummy- to DIE for! (get the pun?)

This is my daughter's personal stitching, but I make them custom to each customer- matching hair and eye color when requested. I also change the paper on the frame (yes- they come differently than this one) to match the recipient's decor. I will show more of them later- they are really cute.

On Display

I thought I would create a blog that would let me share with everyone what kind of crafting I am up to these days. If you see anything you want, let me know and I will arrange to get it to you. If everyone loves my stuff, well, maybe I'll even link it to paypal or something extra tricky like that. For now, we'll handle this in person. Here is the latest and greatest from Ameroonie Designs.

I love this Happy Birthday banner. The colors are so bright and the beaded appliques add just a little sparkle.
